Originally from East London and now based in Cape Town, Michael Chandler is celebrated for his blue-and-white ceramic tile murals that draw inspiration from heritage, storytelling, and classic artistic traditions. For Cult Gaia’s flagship store in Miami, Chandler was commissioned by founder Jasmin Larian Hekmat to create an extraordinary 1,800-piece hand-painted porcelain tile mural—a stunning façade that brings timeless artistry to a modern commercial space.

The mural, which portrays a whimsical Tree of Life, complete with muses, birds, flowers, and fruit, transforms the storefront into a vibrant piece of public art. Chandler’s approach to design begins with a deep understanding of client vision, followed by large-scale sketches and intricate tile coding to ensure each piece fits seamlessly into the full composition.
