As December unfolds, the vibrant spirit of creativity takes over Miami with the much-anticipated Miami Art & Design Week. This annual celebration, running from December 1st to 8th, transforms the coastal city into a global hub for art and design enthusiasts. At its heart are two standout events: Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami, each offering a unique glimpse into the world of innovative artistry and craftsmanship. With a rich blend of exhibitions, public activations, and industry-leading showcases, the Magic City sets the stage for an unforgettable week of inspiration and discovery.

Design Miami marks its 20th edition under the theme Blue Sky, curated by Glenn Adamson. The event features over 45 galleries presenting bold and boundary-pushing designs that explore optimism and collective creativity. Among the highlights is the debut of Lasvit’s groundbreaking installation, Herbarium Radiant. This mesmerizing piece, crafted with lanthanide oxides from recycled electromagnets, showcases a new type of glass capable of manipulating light and color in dazzling ways. Blending natural elements with advanced techniques, Lasvit’s presentation embodies the synergy of craftsmanship, sustainability, and artistic ingenuity—a vision perfectly aligned with Design Miami’s global narrative of innovation.

Meanwhile, Art Basel Miami Beach returns with an impressive lineup of 286 galleries from 38 countries, reflecting Miami’s cultural crossroads. Under the new leadership of Bridget Finn, this year’s show expands its focus on diverse artistic voices, including emerging talents in the Positions sector and historical masterpieces in Survey. The Meridians sector, celebrating its fifth anniversary, presents institutionally ambitious works that explore themes like democracy and transformation. Curated by Yasmil Raymond, these large-scale installations invite viewers to ponder the state of becoming through art that transcends boundaries and evokes change.
