Salone Del Mobile Cc-Tapis X Fornasetti

Salone del Mobile 2026 underscored an important shift in the design world: interiors are becoming increasingly experiential. This year, the most memorable presentations moved beyond furniture and décor, focusing on atmosphere, emotion, and storytelling. Across Milan, brands and galleries explored how materials, sound, light, and craftsmanship can combine to create immersive environments rather than isolated objects. The fair highlighted a growing desire for interiors that feel layered and meaningful—spaces that communicate identity through texture, narrative, and artistic expression rather than trend alone.
One of the most compelling examples was (META)FISICA by cc-tapis x Fornasetti, an exhibition that transformed rugs into architectural and narrative elements. Curated by Dan Thawley and unfolding as a labyrinth across six gallery rooms, the installation reinterpreted archival Fornasetti motifs into surreal, dreamlike compositions crafted using cc-tapis’ artisanal techniques. Sound installations, symbolic imagery, and trompe-l’oeil references created an immersive dialogue between art and interior space, blurring the line between function and fantasy. The exhibition served as a powerful reminder that design today is no longer just about furnishing a room—it is about creating emotional and sensory experiences that shape how a space is remembered.
