MEET MAX GUIDON
November 12, 2024
We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Max Guidon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Max below.
Max, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
My self-discipline has always been rooted in the fact that I’ve been a bit geeky from a young age. I’ve always had a deep curiosity about how things work, and that naturally led me to become very focused and detail-oriented. For me, it’s incredibly hard to do things halfway. There’s something inside me that just won’t let me abandon a task until it’s fully completed. That’s probably why I graduated as an engineer, even though my true passion and eventual career path ended up being in interior design.
Once I discovered interior design, it became even easier to channel that self-discipline. When you’re working toward something that genuinely excites you, it feels natural to keep pushing forward, continuously creating, and reaching for new heights.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and from a very young age, I dreamt of becoming an architect. However, the realities of life in my home country led me to pursue Production Engineering instead. I graduated Cum Laude, and those problem-solving skills later became invaluable when I transitioned into my true passion: interior design.
After working in my family’s business, I made the decision to move to Miami, where I could fully commit to design. I had always been torn between architecture and interior design, but once I found the latter, I knew it was the right path. Graduating Magna Cum Laude in Interior Design really cemented my passion for creating thoughtful, beautifully crafted spaces.
Starting my own studio, Guidon Studio, was an exciting yet challenging venture. Launching in the midst of the pandemic, I took a leap of faith—especially in an uncertain market. But I found that Miami’s vibrant real estate scene was a unique opportunity to create something special. Guidon Studio quickly gained momentum, specializing in high-end residential interior design that stands out for its focus on both artistry and functionality.
What makes our work exciting is the way we tailor every project to tell a story. For us, design isn’t just about creating a beautiful space—it’s about shaping an environment that reflects the unique lifestyle of each client. Our projects are deeply personal, and that’s what drives the creativity behind each design. Rather than sticking to one style, we collaborate closely with our clients to craft spaces that feel authentic to them while being innovative and inspiring.
Something I’m particularly proud of is how we’ve adapted to a fully remote model, which benefits our clients by giving them more flexibility. We visit their homes directly, and that allows them to review design proposals and materials in the comfort of their own space. This personal touch enhances the client experience while making the design process more engaging.
At Guidon Studio, we’re storytellers at heart. We’re dedicated to creating interiors that not only look beautiful but also have lasting value and meaning for the people who live in them. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to expand our projects and explore new creative avenues while consistently maintaining our core commitment to craftsmanship, attention to detail, and authentic human connections.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my career, I’d say there are three key qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey: adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to merge creativity with a systematic approach.
1. Adaptability: My career pivot from engineering to interior design taught me how important it is to be flexible and open to change. Whether it was adjusting to new environments, embracing new disciplines, or launching my own business during a global pandemic, adaptability was critical. My advice for those starting out is to remain open to new opportunities, even if they don’t fit into your original plan. Sometimes, it’s the unexpected turns that lead you to where you’re meant to be.
2. Attention to Detail: As a designer, I believe the little things often make the biggest impact. Whether it’s the precision of technical drawings or the subtle nuances that bring a design concept to life, paying close attention to detail is essential. This skill was honed during my engineering studies and has been crucial in my interior design career. My advice would be to constantly refine your ability to notice and value details, as they often set apart good work from great work.
3. Creativity Combined with a Systematic Approach: While creativity is at the heart of design, the ability to structure that creativity into a clear, organized process is equally important. My background in engineering gave me a systematic approach to problem-solving, which complements my artistic vision. For those early in their careers, I recommend balancing the creative side with an understanding of how to execute your ideas practically. Mastering both will make your work not only visionary but also effective.
By focusing on these qualities and skills, you’ll not only be able to navigate challenges but also create a solid foundation for long-term success.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are always open to collaborations, which often lead to some of the most exciting and unconventional design solutions. Whether it’s partnering with talented artists who share our creative vision or working with skilled professionals in the industry, we believe that collaboration fosters innovation and enhances the quality of our projects. We’re also interested in exploring opportunities that might help us expand our reach, potentially taking on projects beyond our current region. By teaming up with like-minded individuals and businesses, we can continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in high-end residential design and deliver even more unique, tailored solutions for our clients.
